Portfolio Guidelines
- The portfolio will be compiled under the direction of the homeroom teacher.
- The portfolio binder will be housed with the homeroom teacher.
- Students are provided a three-ring binder to house their portfolios pieces through the grade levels.
Portfolio Contents
Students in grades PK-3 contribute two pieces per trimester. One is teacher-chosen and the other is student-chosen. End of the year total = 6
Fourth grade students contribute four pieces each trimester. Two are teacher-chosen and two are student-chosen. End of the year total = 12
Fifth grade students contribute four pieces each trimester. Two are teacher-chosen and two are student-chosen. In addition to these pieces, students select three others for inclusion. End of the year total = 15
In grades 3-5, each piece of student-chosen writing in the portfolio is accompanied by a reflection to be written under the direction of the homeroom teacher.
- Third grade students reflect at each trimester.
- Fourth and fifth grade students reflect at the mid-trimester and the trimester.
Portfolios consist of graded and non-graded pieces of work.
At the beginning of each year students complete an “All About Me” sheet to include in their portfolio.
