ERB Testing
ERB (Educational Records Bureau) is a non-profit educational service organization that provides assessments for high-achieving schools and schools wishing to set high standards. At St. George’s, the CTP 4 (Comprehensive Testing Program, 4th edition), which is created by ERB, is administered to students in second through fifth grade. The CTP 4 includes both achievement and reasoning components, testing various areas in math and language arts.
The WrAP, a writing assessment program designed by ERB, is also utilized to guage student's writing abilities. The WrAP is scored analytically using a six-trait, six-point rubric. Information is then provided to the school and teachers that can help target instruction in writing. Additionally, the rubric is designed to be fully applicable across content areas and, therefore, can be integrated easily into St. George's writing program and other subject area curriculum.
The information gained from these tests is used, along with teacher evaluation, observation, and parental input, to help us identify areas of strength and weakness in our students and to guide our curriculum development.
