Character Education
An emphasis on character and leadership is a distinctive component
of the St. George’s experience. Chapel services and an honor code
serve to reinforce lessons of character every day. A
much-anticipated St. George’s tradition is the speech that every fifth
grade student gives in front of the entire student body about a
character trait of personal interest.
St. George’s students are contributing citizens in their school
community and in their larger community. Respect for self and
others is a hallmark of a St. George’s student and is exemplified in a
vibrant community service program. From providing meals for the
homeless to raising money St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,
students participate in a variety of age-appropriate community service
projects, guided by their teachers and the Chaplain/Director of Student
Life. Hands-on service learning programs produce graduates who are well
prepared for a life of engagement and service.
